Introduction

Accounting skills are invaluable in all areas of business and provide graduates with opportunities to work in a diverse range of small or large organisations either locally or overseas.

The accounting studies in the University of Adelaide Business School is a very popular choice for students. The practice of accounting comprises financial accounting and management accounting. Financial accounting is focused on external reporting and auditing functions. Management accounting is concerned with providing information for planning and controlling decisions within organisations.

This program is designed for students with non-accounting background to develop neccessary skills to move into accounting roles and students who may be interested in pursuing CPA qualifications.


CPA Accrediation

CPA Australia has accredited the University of Adelaide’s Master of Accounting.
 
Successful completion of the Master of Accounting will provide students the educational grounding required for admission to the professional programs of CPA Australia

Course Structure
The Master of Accounting (MAcc) program consists of 12 modules (comprising 10 core modules and 2 elective modules).

The average number of contact hours for an for an individual course is 30 and each course is taught over 10 weeks.

A typical intensive teaching block is as follows:

  Friday:      7.00 p.m. - 10.00 p.m.
  Saturday: 1.00 p.m. - 8.00 p.m.
  Sunday:    9.00 a.m. - 4.00 p.m.

Admission Criteria
An applicant for admission to the academic program for the degree of Master of Accounting shall:

  Have qualified for a recognised undergraduate program and relevant work experience

The Faculty may, subject to such conditions as it may see fit to impose in each case, accept as a candidate for the degree a person who does not satisfy the requirements of Rule above but who has presented evidence satisfactory to the Faculty of fitness to undertake work for the degree.

Applicant Checklist
  Completed application form
  Certified copies of academic transcripts and certificates of the first degree
  Two referee reports
  Two passport-sized photographs
  IELTS result of 6.5 or higher (including a Writing Component score of at least 6.0) will be required (for students whose tertiary education was not in English)

 

Fees
  Application fee of $107.00 upon application submission, which will be fully refunded if unsuccessful meeting the entry requirments
  Course fees for one course is $2407.50.
    Total tuition fee for 12-course MAcc program is $28,890.00
  Tuition fees are charged on the basis of the number of subjects taken in a given term and are due 2 weeks prior to the start of the term.
  Course fees cover course notes and textbooks.

(NOTE: All fees are inclusive of 7% GST)
